Providenciales

The island of Providenciales in the Turks and Caicos Islands is located about 575 miles off the coast of Florida, USA.  It is easy to arrive here, via flights from major cities throughout the US, via major airlines.  You will fly into Providenciales International Airport, PLS.

Most visitors do rent cars when they arrive.  There are a good number of reliable car rental companies.  If you do choose to take a taxi, however, you can find them regularly at the airport.  Do get the name of your driver; the taxi drivers will take care of you, but you have to have their number!  There is not a good source anywhere to find them listed!

The Turks and Caicos Islands are a British Territory.  English is the official language.  The US Dollar is the official currency.

Provo is on Eastern Daylight Time. Local time in this time zone changes when Daylight Saving Time begins and ends.

Electricity is standard US 110 volt.  So, there is no need for you to have a converter if you are used to the North American system.

We have some wonderful grocery stores on island.  The IGA is the largest and it is geared up for visitors, offering items in small quantities.  They are open until 10 pm daily.  Brand new, Quality Supermarket is not too far from the villa.  The Caicos Mart is within walking distance of Crystal Sands Villa and it is convenient for those last minute pickup items.

Scuba Diving

In addition to a great selection at the IGA, there are some well stocked beer, wine and liquor stores on island.  They don't sell on Sundays, so make sure you prepare your shopping schedule accordingly.

Without question, the beaches on Providenciales are the best in the Caribbean!  Before you arrive, you will think the photos are not real.  When you arrive, you won't believe that the photos simply don't do justice to the magic of Provo!

Scuba Diving

Scuba Diving

Scuba diving in Turks and Caicos is unparalleled! Crystal Sands Villa was built because the owners fell in love with the island and the diving.

Dive sites named Aquarium and Amphitheater provide some insight into the abundance of sea life. There are walls and swim-throughs, coral gardens and tunnels, schools of fish and seas of garden eels! We have seen eagle rays, dolphins, sharks and whales! From tiny shrimp to large grouper, the sea is full of variety!

Whether it is Grace Bay, Northwest Point, West Caicos, Sanbore Channel or French Cay, Providenciales has the best diving we have found. Contact us with your questions and we will be happy to chat. Crystal Sands Villa is a great place to stay for divers. The rooms are large and inviting.

For the most wonderful dive experience imaginable, we have listed our favorite operators! These divers have years of experience and they are familiar with Provo. They decided that Provo was the place to call home! They provide first class service. You can choose to dive using a small, private charter or join a larger group. You can discuss your individual experience level and find friendly, personal attention, whether you arrive to get certified or you have dived all over the world. Safety consciousness and professionalism are reflected in well maintained vessels and efficient operation.

If you are an experienced diver, you will know right away that you are in for a treat. If you are new to diving, they will set you up with an introductory Discover Scuba course! But please make your reservations early. They are quite popular!

Getting Around

Getting Around

We do recommend renting a vehicle. Renting a car gives you flexibility to travel on your own schedule. The cost will break even with the cost of taxis, if you plan to explore the island or to venture away from the villa a few times. Grace Bay Car Rentals offers the largest rental fleet in the Turks and Caicos Islands with the most vehicle categories.
